After days of rumors, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy officially announced that sophomore running back Herschel Sims has been dismissed from the team. The announcement came in the form of a release that was one sentence long. It read:
"Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy announced today that Herschel Sims has been dismissed from the team due to a violation of team rules."
According to sources, Sims was accused of defrauding a teammate and given an opportunity to make it right, but failed to do so.
On May 18, freshman linebacker Jeremiah Tshimanga told OSU police that a teammate had stolen his identification and used it to make two separate withdrawals from his account with Stillwater National Bank according to an affidavit filed with the Payne County District Attorney's office. The transactions were noted as occurring on April 27 at 10 a.m. and 2:36 p.m. for $500 and $200, respectively.
