Being a defensive coordinator is nothing new for veteran coach Tom Hayes, but being Kansas State's defensive coordinator is new this season for the Wildcats' secondary coach. With Chris Cosh's departure at the end of last season, Hayes was promoted and will lead an improving defense into a rugged Big 12 schedule. GoPowercat's Brett Regan was among the media contingent to speak with Hayes during Friday's K-State Media Day.
