KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Texas freshman Connor Lammert, all long-and-lanky 6-foot-9 of him, was flying through the air, arm out-stretched and reaching for the ball as it gently arced over him. This was Rodney McGruder's night. This shot, and the next that followed, defined the senior's effort in No. 11 Kansas State's 66-49 quarterfinal victory over the Longhorns on Thursday night at the Big 12 Tournament at Sprint Center.
