Media Day: Iowa's verison of Slash
Many teams have a multi-purpose player who can and do play various positions. The Hawkeyes are following suit this fall with quarterback Jason Manson spending most of his time catching football instead of throwing them.
Manson talks about the experience and transition to receiver, if there are some trick plays in store this fall, how Jake Christensen developed, and much more.
Q: So are you a receiver or a quarterback now?
MANSON: Both. (laugh)
Q: How is that working out?
MANSON: So far, so good. It is a lot of work though.
Q: Do your passing skills suffer as your receiving skills improve?
MANSON: I haven't seen any decline as a passer, but I am getting better at receiver. Hopefully, I can keep that up.
Q: This spring you worked mostly at receiver and then would go back to quarterback for a short period of time. Is that still continuing?
MANSON: Yeah, that is the way things continue to go. I think I need more work at receiver, but at the same time I still need to practice at quarterback in case something happens.
