Utah OL picking up steam
One of the top players in Utah for 2008 is South Jordan (Utah) Bingham offensive lineman Derek Tuimauga. The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder is being recruited as both a guard and tackle by teams around the western region after a stellar junior year which saw him named first team all-region and first team all-state in class 5A.Duck Sports Authority talked with Tuimauga recently about his recruiting.
Tuimauga told us what he feels are his strengths on the football field and also what he need to improve upon.
"My strengths are my smarts, taking the right angles and knowing how to play against a defense," he said. "If the defense adjusts I can tell the other linemen how to adjust to it. I probably need to work most on my reactions, like open-field blocking and change-of-direction blocking."
The big guy currently holds two written offers and believes more will be on the way soon.
