Picking up the pace
Todd Graham's brand of high energy has begun to spread. The Tulsa head football coach's work ethic and style are contagious. Thursday night's practice might be signs of an epidemic that could spread to the seats of Skelly Stadium.
Tulsa football's faithful railbird population was joined by roughly fifty new spectators. Though crowd noise has not yet reached Texas A&M proportions, the new "faces in the crowd" may be a sign of the future.
The 7-on-7 drills were overwhelmingly passing. Jesse Meyer out-wrestled and out-jumped Steve Craver for a thirty-plus yard pass over the middle.
Dion Toliver is getting comfortable in the offense. The JUCO transfer made three athletic catches on sideline patterns. The team that has seen the likes of Romby Bryant, Garrett Mills and Idris Moss in recent years now has Tolliver, Meyer and maybe even Ty Page to stretch the opposing defense to the breaking point.
Page, who has spent his Tulsa career on defense, is too athletic to leave off the field for any length of time. The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound junior pulled in a throw in stride from David Johnson.
