For the fourth time in school history, a Kansas State women's basketball player will be forever linked as one of the all-time greatest in the women's game as senior forward Kendra Wecker was named to the prestigious Kodak/WBCA All-America Team on Saturday.

Wecker was joined on the elite 10-member team by LSU's Seimone Augustus, Notre Dame's Jacqueline Batteast, Minnesota's Janel McCarville, Baylor's Sophia Young, Duke's Monique Currie, Ohio State's Jessica Davenport, TCU's Sandora Irvin, Stanford's Candice Wiggins and Mississippi State's Tan White.

This the first career Kodak All-America honor for Wecker, who becomes only the third player in school history to receive one of the highest honors in all of women's college basketball. Former Wildcats Nicole Ohlde (2000-04) and Priscilla Gary (1982-83) were selected in 2004, 2003 and 1983 respectively.

"Kendra's selection to the Kodak/WBCA All-America First Team is a phenomenal honor and distinction," Kansas State head coach Deb Patterson said. "Her recognition as a Kodak/WBCA All-American is a reflection of the positive impact her intensity, work ethic, skills and athleticism have brought to Kansas State and to the women's game as a whole.

"Kendra is the consummate role model for the young female players who aspire to achieve greatness with class, integrity and the passionate competitive intensity the game deserves. It is a fitting tribute to Kendra Wecker, that she will be seen by young girls on the Kodak/WBCA All-America poster in locker rooms all across America as a representative of the very best college women's basketball has to offer."

This year's team marks the 31st year of the longest running sponsorship in women's athletics between the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Eastman Kodak Company. A selection committee representing each of the eight WBCA geographical regions voted for this year's 10-member team comprised of the nation's top women's college basketball players.

"This year's group is filled with fresh new faces," WBCA CEO Beth Bass said. "These ten young ladies represent the future of women's basketball. Considering the overwhelming field of talent at this level of the game, the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team Selection Committee has done an excellent job choosing another class of All-Americans."
