July 13, 2009 Highlighted by new football season and individual-game ticket options, the Kansas State Athletics Department is inviting all fans to attend a "K-State Family Reunion" on September 5 as legendary head coach Bill Snyder returns to the sidelines for the Wildcatsâ?? 2009 season opener against Massachusetts."We want 50,000 K-Staters to fill Bill Snyder Family Stadium on September 5 to help welcome back one of the greatest coaches in college football history," Athletics Director John Currie said. "As part of our K-State Pledge to the Wildcat Nation, we are providing our fans with affordable ticket options and the best gameday experience possible." Also as part of the "K-State Family Reunion," all former Wildcat football players will be invited back to participate in the weekend festivities and will be recognized during the game. "In 1989, I remember sharing with all K-Staters that we desperately needed to have our fans present for our games," said Snyder. "And when that took place, our student-athletes would respond favorably, and we would gradually become an improved program. You responded, and our attendance went from 13,000 to 50,000-plus in a short period of time. That loyalty became the foundation for the â??Greatest Turnaround in College Football History.â?? Together, we have an opportunity to do it once again. We have a lot to overcome, but we can do it with your help." New ticket options for 2009 include 1,200 season tickets priced at $99 in a variety of locations throughout Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Fans that purchase these special "K-State Pledge" season tickets and attend at least five of the six home games will be guaranteed the same ticket and price for the 2010 season, which includes home matchups with UCLA, Texas and Nebraska, Currie said. "K-State Pledge" season tickets must be purchased by August 10 and are limited to six per order. Many individual-game tickets for the "K-State Family Reunion" against UMass will be rolled back in price to as low as $9, matching the general admission ticket price from Snyderâ??s first season at K-State in 1989. Currie said 1,989 tickets will be sold at $9 in a variety of locations and will be available for purchase until August 10. Ticket options at $35 and $20 are also available for the season opener. The first 500 fans who purchase the $35 ticket will receive, per order, a free Wildcat Classic DVD of the 1989 North Texas football game. As an additional bonus, fans with a UMass game ticket can receive a $10 discount toward the purchase of a ticket for the September 26 game against Tennessee Tech, Currie said. Fans may redeem their ticket at the stadium ticket booths immediately following the UMass game or anytime before the Tennessee Tech game at the Athletics Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum. Groups are also encouraged to visit Bill Snyder Family Stadium this season. For non-conference games against UMass and Tennessee Tech, tickets are available at $15 for groups of 12-49, while groups of 50 or more can receive admission for only $10 per person. For Big 12 Conference games â?" excluding the Kansas game â?" groups of 12-49 people can receive admission for $25 a person, while tickets are $20 each for groups of 50 or more.
