Spring Review: Motley's emergence highlights DL

The Players: Tackles: 66 Brian Motley; 97 Lorenzo Washington; Byron Walton[/db]; 64 Layne Rinks; 65 Joshua Curry. Ends: 92 Wallace Gilberry; 93 Bobby Greenwood; 95 Brandon Deaderick; 90 Milton Talbert.

2007 signees: Tackles: Josh Chapman (Hoover, Ala.); Nick Gentry (Prattville, Ala.); Alfred McCullough (Athens, Ala.); Kerry Murphy (Hoover, Ala.). Ends: Luther Davis (West Monroe, La.); Jeremy Elder (College Park, Ga.).

2006 Season: Gilberry: 43 tackles, including 10.5 for loss, and 3.5 sacks. His 10 quarterback hurries ranked first on the team. Greenwood: 25 tackles, five TFLs and 2.5 sacks. Deaderick: Two tackles. Walton: One tackle.

For his efforts, the redshirt freshman was honored as co-recipient of the Bart Starr Most Improved Player Award at the end of spring drills.
