Visit in the works for WR
Though he expects to hear from Connecticut at some point, Baton Rouge (La.) Capitol wide receiver Nyle Johnson is still waiting for an official offer from the Huskies. UConn could vault themselves to the top of his list should they choose to do so.
Johnson has not yet visited UConn, but a trip to Storrs is in the works.
"I haven't had a chance to visit yet, but I've been talking to [defensive backs] coach [Darrell] Perkins weekly," said Johnson. "We're trying to set something up so I can go up there some time in September."
Johnson already holds offers from Southern Methodist, Tulane, Louisiana-Monroe, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Alabama State, Arkansas State and Utah State. Though an offer from UConn would alter the landscape, he is beginning to whittle down his list of favorite schools.
"I would have to say SMU and Tulane are my two biggest offers," said Johnson. "I really, really like UConn and would like to get the chance to go up there."
With offers ranging from all over the map - from DeKalb, Illinois to Logan, Utah - Johnson does not plan on limiting himself to one geographical region.
"Location isn't a concern with me," said Johnson. "I want to play football. The school matters, but not the area."
With a number of offers in hand, Johnson knows he will be playing college football in the fall of 2011. But the 6-foot-0, 185-pound prospect ultimately wants to make the right decision, not a rash one.
"I think about that almost every day," said Johnson. "I could make a decision now, but I really want to let it play out. So, I'm going to make a decision after my senior season."
