Strizak having solid junior year

Junior defensive end Mike Strizak is having a big year for Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco and colleges are taking notice.

To be more precise colleges have been keeping an eye on the 6-foot-2, 230-pound prospect for a while now. He just happens to be helping his cause with a quality season so far.

"Everybody's doing really well so far," he said, referring to his talent-rich Don Bosco squad. "We beat Gilman from Maryland in our first game. We won our second game then went out to Ohio and beat St. Ignatius. We just got back from our game against Bergen Catholic and we won that 38-18.

"So far I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm really just doing what the coaches ask of me. I'm just doing my job. I think I'm doing well on pass rush. We play team defense so if everyone does their job right we'll be just fine."

Boston College, UConn, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Maryland and Pitt are some of the schools that have taken an early interest in Strizak, though in different degrees.

"I've talked to a couple of recruiters from Rutgers and been invited to their games. UConn invites me to their games every week," Strizak explained.

"Boston College just sends me letters pretty much, and I don't hear too much from Pitt and Maryland but I still get letters from them."

The only school among those listed above that Strizak has visited is Boston College. He was there over the summer and raved about the experience there because their operation is so similar to the one at Bosco that he has become accustomed to.

Strizak said he does not have any favorites at this point.
