Herron makes second trip to Louisville

Three-star Indiana offensive lineman DeAndre Herron recently made his second trip to Louisville.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive guard from Avon, Indiana has become very familiar with the Cardinals' program in recent weeks as Charlie Strong and his assistants have turned up the heat and made Herron a priority recruit.

"Not long ago I visited Louisville for the second time. It was a good visit. They haven't let me down yet," Herron said.

"I'm tight with the coaches so I feel like I'm at home when I'm there. I don't have to be shy or anything when I'm around them."

Herron also recently took a trip down to Alabama, as a few schools in the state have been recruiting him.

As it turned out he was only able to visit one school and it went surprisingly well.

"I actually went to Alabama State recently, too," Herron said. "I talk to the coach from Alabama State almost every day. I figured while I was in the South this past week I'd go check them out.

"It's actually a nice school. They're redoing everything. By the time I'd get there they'll have a new stadium.

"I had been in contact with some schools down there and it turned out it wasn't a good time to visit because they were on vacation. They were the only school that wanted to see me even though they were on vacation."

Herron said he's hoping to visit Toledo, Northern Illinois and Miami-OH before the end of the summer.

While there's a chance he could take some official visits in the fall Herron admitted that he's hoping to have a decision made this month or next.
