Henricks close to committing?
Bastrop (Texas) cornerback Aneas Henricks will be under a commitment watch beginning this weekend.
He claims scholarship offers from Rice, Texas State, Texas Tech and Wake Forest. He is also receiving interest from Houston and Tulsa.
The Demon Deacons and Red Raiders are tied for the lead in his recruitment.
The 6-feet and 168-pound Lone Star State product will take an official visit to Wake Forest Saturday, Sept. 8. It will be the first time he has set foot on campus. He visited Texas Tech over the summer.
"I definitely want to see how the atmosphere is [at Wake], if I'm comfortable there and if I can see myself living there for the next four years," Henricks said. "I know they're a great school academically, so I just got to see how comfortable I feel once I come home and if I feel so the same as when I get there."
"I want to make it [decision between Texas Tech and Wake Forest] sometime soon in the upcoming week. I'll definitely be able to weigh the pros and cons at each school [after his visit to Wake]."
Tim Duffie and Derrick Jackson are recruiting Henricks for the Deacs.
"I talk to them a lot both," Henricks said. "I'll talk to one every other time, and they have a lot to say. I'm comfortable with them. Coach Duffie's always straightforward, always telling you exactly what he's wanting. He told me if he ever got me up there he'd coach me hard. He's just always been straight up about everything."
"Coach Duffie even told me he went to Texas Tech, and he told me things about it. He didn't really knock them. He just said he can coach me better. He told me he wasn't ashamed of going to Texas Tech and it's a great school."
Henricks, who is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, said he may try to take additional visits if Saturday's trip to Wake Forest does not meet the criteria for what he is looking for in a college.
He added once he makes his decision he will not visit other schools.
