Louisville opening doors with Colorado DB

Davis Burl, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete from Grandview H.S. in Colorado, is getting early looks from several schools around the country, including Louisville. Cardinalsports.com spoke with Burl about his early recruitment.

With his size, Burl likely excites college programs when the words "4.4" come out of his mouth. When that speed is associated with 6-2, 210, colleges come running. Add that to the fact that Burl plays numberous positions, including safety, linebacker, running back and fullback, and it's no wonder he's getting early attention.

"I'm quick to the ball and I like to hit," Burl said when asked about his defensive style.

He also talked about his two favorite positions: "Probably safety or running back," he said. "I like the freedom of safety and getting to see the whole field. At running back, I like giving the hits to the defense and all the glory and stuff."

Burl said he is already getting communication from Illinois, Louisville, Cal, Oregon, LSU, Colorado, Kansas State, Arizona and Utah.

What is he hearing from Louisville, a team he said could possibly get one of his official visits? "I just got a couple of letters from them. They are wanting me to come to their spring game, (telling me) how their school is and what campus is like and stuff.

"I'm looking forward to hearing more from them," he added.

Burl said that Kansas State is showing him the most love at this point. He is impressed with what he knows about the Wildcats. "I just like the way they play ball," he remarked.

The prospect added that he did not grow up with a favorite. He's just a fan of college football.
