Curry visiting a lot of schools this summer
Elysian Fields, Texas quarterback Tim Curry has been on the move this summer.
No he's not changing high schools or anything but he has been hitting college campuses near and far.
This summer he has been invited to college camps all across the country. While it's been hard to decide which one's to attend he has decided on a few.
"I've been to Mississippi St, and I've been to one of University of Houston's (in Gladewater)," said Curry, who has also attended Oklahoma St. and TCU camps. "I've been to a couple of them. I'm staying busy."
Curry doesn't plan to stop there though.
"I already went to a University of Houston one, I went to one in Gladewater and I did real good," he said. "I called the head coach and we talked for a little while and we're texting, and we just started talking and he wants me to come up to their campus. He also wants me to do another camp up there. He said there will be better athletes so they like me a whole bunch.
"I'm going to a Baylor camp. Their offensive coordinator wanted me to come up there. I'm going to go to a UTEP camp for sure that's going to be in Longview.
"Kansas, Kansas St. they've got three-day camps but I talked to both of their coaches and they just told me to come up there for one day and it'll be good.
"I talked to coach Roark from SMU and he wants me to come up there. I sprained my ankle so I couldn't make it to their camp last weekend, so I'm going to try make one in later July. I'm going to a Rice one that's another one I'm going to for sure. ULM has loved me. They want me to come up to a camp in Shreveport."
UTEP remains his offer but coaches from Mississippi St., SMU, Baylor, Houston, Rice, UL-Monroe, TCU, Kansas, Kansas St., and Oklahoma St. remain in contact.
"It's just basically where I have to go out there and they want to see how I perform doing their routes and working with their quarterback coaches and just seeing how things work before they do offer me," he said. "But a lot of them like me."
When visiting the camps coaches will not be the only one's making evaluations, Curry will be making a few of his own. And he has a good idea about what he's looking for.
"It's more of how they treat me," said Curry. "I want to see a school that doesn't have any quarterbacks so I can get in there and get a lot of playing time real early. And I want to go to a team that has an offense that throws the ball a whole bunch. I'm looking at the offense and facilities is a thing too, but mostly playing time."
While Curry may be making the rounds, he says he is still committed to the Miners.
"It's a soft verbal commitment still," said the East Texas QB. "I've still got my options open, but UTEP is my people. I'm not going to say anything to make them think I'm going to blow them off at the last second because I'm not that kind of person. I'm going to try to make a hard solid verbal commitment by either the middle of the football season or right after it."
