Curry preparing for championship, recruiting

For Elysian Fields, Texas, quarterback Tim Curry, life is hunting, fishing and football.

While we don't know what kind of outdoor sportsman his is, we do know he's a talented quarterback who has his team in the Texas Class 2A state championship game this weekend against Canadian High School.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound quarterback and his team crushed Miami commit Taylor Cook and Rice Consolidated in a head-to-head matchup this past weekend in the state semifinals. Elysian Fields won 46-3.

"Our defense really got after him (Cook) and he got injured," Curry said. "Our offense got rolling and we were hard to stop. The recruiting has really slowed because I'm so focused on winning a state championship that I can't think about anything else."

With one game remaining, the UTEP commit is getting prepared to hit the recruiting circuit in January with visits to Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette.

"I have a soft verbal to UTEP and enjoyed my visit in September," he said. "I'm going to take some more visits to make sure my decision is perfect. I have to check out all of my options before signing day."

Curry lives minutes from the northern Louisiana border and has unofficially visited Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Monroe.

"I grew up on Benton, Louisiana, which is so close to those schools," he said. "I've sat with Coach (Derrick) Dooley and his offensive coordinator this fall and talked with the Louisiana-Monroe coaches a lot."
