Four star talent galore at cornerback

SOCIAL: Follow on Twitter | Friend on Facebook

It's tricky when breaking down the best players in Florida - especially at the skill positions on both offense and defense. Cornerback is a position in Florida that has produced countless talent for both collegiate and professional - Deion Sanders, Antonio Cromartie, Brian Dawkins - the list goes on and on. The class of 2013 features four of Rivals top 250 players.

Top 2013 Cornerbacks

Vernon Hargreaves III
5-foot-10 |177 | Wharton (Tampa)
Buzz: Arguably the best defensive player in Florida's class of 2013. Hargreaves checked in at a hefty No. 10 in the Rivals100. He draws comparisons to last year's FlaVarsity 8A Player of the Year Tracy Howard. A pre-season All-American and a lockdown corner. Nee's Notes: (Rivals.com Florida recruiting analyst Chris Nee) "He is an outstanding athlete at the cornerback position who does a great job in man coverage. He has smooth footwork at the cornerback position and his athleticism allows him to be in position to make big plays when the ball is put in the air"
Schools in the mix: Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, South Carolina (18 total)

MacKensie Alexander
5-foot-11 |175 | Immokalee
Buzz: Ranked No. 56 overall in the Rivals100 Alexander possesses the height needed to make an immediate impact. He is also blessed with incredible speed and quickness - which are not the same. His team is loaded with talent as well and is expected to make a serious run in 2013. His brother, Makarenko has verbally stated he's leaning towards Miami and wants Mackensie to join him.

Schools in the mix: Verbally committed to Tennessee (January 12, 2012)

Will Likely
5-foot-7| 171 | Glades Central (Belle Glade)
Buzz: Likely is a pure athlete. Can play both offense and defense and is dangerous at special teams as well. Ranked No. 79 in the Rivals100, he may be the best athlete in Belle Glade this year (with all due respect to Kelvin Taylor. He has the ability to take over a game (i.e. Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer) and make things happen. Always a threat when he lines up on offense - and very few throw his way when he lines up on defense. His strength position is cornerback.
Schools in the mix:Alabama, Michigan State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida State (18 total)

Artie Burns
6-foot-0 |170 | Northwestern (Miami)
Buzz: Burns is the fourth of five players in this profile - all of which are ranked four-star athletes or higher by Rivals.com. Burns checked in at No. 166 in the Rivals250. He's already verbally committed to the University of Alabama - announcing his choice in December of 2011. Burns is one of the fastest players in south Florida. If anything holds true from last year- verbal commitments aren't as strong early as they are late.

Sojourn Shelton
5-foot-9 | 155 | Plantation
Buzz: Another south Florida cornerback that committed early. Shelton has verbally pledged his services to Florida State and has his senior year to look forward to. Shelton is just outside the initial Rivals250 - but has earned his four-star rating and as the season progresses, you may see his name start to rise. Nee's Notes: "Shelton makes up for his size largely with his speed. Simply put, he covers a ton of ground, particularly when he's closing on a play or recovering after a misstep"
Schools in the mix:verbally committed to Florida State.
