Weekend Recap: Arkansas lands three
Get the scoop on your team:
Entering the weekend, Arkansas didn't fully know which players were coming for official visits.
Exiting the weekend, the Hogs have secured the verbal commitments of three players who were in on the last weekend before National Signing Day.
Coach Bret Bielema is closing strong. He got Osceola (Ark.) three-star safety Korliss Marshall to commit, Bellaire (Texas) running back Denzell Evans flipped from Houston, and Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff athlete Melvinson Hartfield de-committed from Kansas State and joined the Razorbacks class.
Hartfield and Marshall can play multiple positions, and Arkansas offering them at their preferred positions was a deciding factor.
Hartfield primarily has been defense-minded, but Arkansas will use him on offense.
"I can do everything," Hartfield said. "Whatever the coach wants me to do, I can play receiver, cornerback, safety, return man. (Arkansas) likes me as an athlete, but they're going to use me as a receiver."
Marshall will go to the other side of the ball, as well. Primarily a running back in high school, he will initially move to safety.
"I'm familiar with the corner, the free safety and the strong safety positions, so I don't really see too much of a problem with it," he said. "With me being a running back for the majority of my life, it's my time to beat up on some people myself.
"If they ask me to carry the ball, I'm going to carry the ball, no doubt. But I'm just going to focus on hitting people now."
Here is a compilation of other official visit reports from across the country.
