2019 wing Au'Diese Toney of North Carolina recently added an offer from Kansas State.

It didn’t take long for Kansas State to hit the recruiting trail following its three-game winning streak in Big 12 play. Soon after the win over Baylor in Waco, the coaches hit the road to find the next group of Wildcats.

One of the stops that assistant Chester Frazier made was to Trinity Christian School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to check out 6-foot-6 wing Au’Diese Toney.

Toney already held offers from VCU, East Carolina, Hampton, Virginia Tech, UAB and Charlotte but Frazier threw the Wildcats into the mix for his services.

“I liked our conversation,” Toney said of his exchange with the KSU assistant. “He was very easy to talk to and I look forward to getting to know him.”

Of course, this early in the process and with his recruitment not exploding just yet, Toney is still taking things slowly and remains in "wait and see mode." He hasn’t trimmed his list and isn’t willing to go on record as to what schools have stood out.

In addition, Toney hasn’t set up any visits yet. But the class of 2019 recruit does know he has strong interest in K-State from what he has been able to learn thus far.

“They’re a big-time program,” he said. "I’m just really excited to have the opportunity. I’m happy that they are a part of my recruiting journey.

"I watch a lot of games," Toney added. “I’m a huge fan of the game. I know that they are on quite a winning streak and have a chance to do some big things.”

Head coach Bruce Weber is an avid recruiter but he has yet to speak with Toney. It's apparently in the plans as the two sides begin to form a close-knit relationship. The process for both parties is in the beginning stages.

It is something that has the ability and potential of blossoming into something more serious but that answer probably won’t be known until the spring. With about five spots available for the class of 2019, Kansas State has the luxury of weighing its options and casting a wide net. The Wildcats are using that time to chase some of the best prospects in the country, and that includes Au’Diese Toney.
