K-State adds Goodland HS athlete Levi Archer

Levi Archer is the newest Kansas State commit for the 2018 cycle.

It was just a week ago or so that Kansas State was trying to convince Goodland High athlete Levi Archer to take a preferred walk-on spot in Manhattan. At that point, he had little interest in doing so. He figured he'd still visit the KSU campus but was still hopeful that it would be more of a scholarship offer from K-State.

So, that was the reason why he showed more love to programs like Fort Hays State, Emporia State and Pitt State. He wanted a scholarship to play football. In fact, on January 17, Archer committed to the Gorillas of Pitt State.

Now, he has that opportunity. While on his official visit to Kansas State, Archer was offered by the Wildcats and quickly jumped on it, issuing them his verbal pledge. The in-state standout becomes the 20th commitment of the class for K-State. And just like offensive tackle Shane Cherry, Archer's offer is as a gray-shirt, meaning he will go on scholarship in January of 2019.

Archer lined up at quarterback for Goodland and is listed at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds. That is a frame that suggests that he could reach a weight of 215-220 pounds if desired.

Consequently, I think he projects to a variety of positions. I’m not sure it’s a slam dunk he’s a quarterback in "The Little Apple" but he could be. This is one of those scenarios where he is just a football player, so you sign him and get him on your team and figure it out later. But so far, he's been told he will be a safety or linebacker.
