Kansas State hasn’t had a commit stolen from its class yet in the 2018 recruiting cycle but the first steps of that happening may have taken place on Monday afternoon. Buzz began to circulate that offensive line pledge Kaitori Leveston of Waco grabbed a Texas offer.

K-StateOnline has the confirmation - Leveston admitted to senior recruiting analyst Derek Young via text message that the Longhorns have offered.

Leveston has been a strong commit that has showed no signs of wavering. He was in Manhattan just a few weeks ago for his official visit to K-State and came away thrilled with his experience despite the loss to the Mountaineers.

“It was excellent,” he said then. “The best parts were being around the players and coaches and hanging out with them. My host was Daron Bowles and I really enjoyed my time.”

“I just expcted to have fun and I did,” Leveston added. “Just knowing that everyone is a family is what I liked the most.”

There were no signs of him wavering on his commitment to the Wildcats up to this point. Obviously, an offer from the Longhorns for someone from Texas will obviously make one consider that option thoroughly and seriously. Leveston did not have any additional comments at this time other than confirming that Texas had, indeed, offered.

Despite the lack of uncertainty on his pledge or how solid his commitment to Bill Snyder and the Wildcats was, Leveston had been honest about his dissatisfaction with the results of the season. Kansas State is 6-5 on the year when the expectation was to win at least nine games during the regular-season slate.

“I’m not too happy about it but stuff happens,” he said, prior to the big victory against Oklahoma State in Stillwater. “I believe when the 2018 class comes in, we’re going to be a lot of help for the team.”

Something to keep in mind, and have an eye out for, would be if Leveston visits Austin and gives the Longhorns a look. That would be a big sign, perhaps the indicator on if this one is getting away from the Wildcats. Texas hosts Texas Tech on Friday. However, Leveston won’t be visiting the Longhorns at that point because his high school team will be in Arlington taking on Byron Nelson High in a playoff game.
