Kansas State will play the Michigan Wolverines in the 25th Annual Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl to be played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz., on Dec. 28, 2013, according to sources. An official announcement on the game is expected at 7:45.
The bowl committee selected Michigan over assumed opponent Nebraska to represent the Big 10. Instead of playing a longtime Big Eight/Big 12 rival, K-State will meet Michigan for the first time.
Coach Bill Snyder's Wildcats finished the 2013 season with a 7-5 record after winning five of its last six games. The Wildcats finished fifth in the Big 12 with a 5-3 record. Michigan also finished the season with a 7-5 record under third-year head coach Brady Hoke, but went just 3-5 in Big 10 play. It completed its regular season with a 42-41 loss to Ohio State on Nov. 30.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl will kick off at 9:15 (Central) on Dec. 28. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
K-State has scheduled a teleconference for the media with Coach Snyder following the official announcement of the bowl matchup at 7:45. Tickets are on sale through the university, and include prime seats. Tickets can be ordered by calling 1-800-221-CATS.
The invitation marks a return visit for the K-State football program to Arizona. Last season, K-State played in the Fiesta Bowl, which also operates the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, losing to Oregon, 35-17.
