There’s no way around it – Kansas State may have a pressing need at fullback for the 2018 season. The status of Winston Dimel’s tenure in Manhattan is unknown, especially with his father Dana Dimel leaving K-State to become the head coach at UTEP.

Nick Lenners is listed as a fullback on the roster but he is still primarily practicing with the tight ends, according to what we have been told. Furthermore, Lenners only played a little tight end during the season in addition to some special teams work.

If Dimel does indeed depart the Wildcat program, that would leave true freshman Mason Barta as the only fullback on scholarship. More depth would be needed.

So let’s introduce Butler C.C. prospect Luke Sowa.

Sowa is a junior college H-Back for the Grizzlies who is currently committed to Bowling Green. However, he confirmed on Twitter as well to K-StateOnline that he would be taking an official visit to Kansas State this upcoming weekend.

Sowa is being recruited as a fullback and could step in and play immediately for the 2018 regular season. As of now, he does not hold an offer from the Wildcats.

“I’m not sure whether or not I will get an offer,” Sowa said.

However, the Wildcats seem eager to get him on campus to experience the Kansas State family, culture and program.

“They just want me to see it,” Sowa said. “They want me to know what they have to offer.”

His primary point of contact has been recruiting director Taylor Braet. And that would make sense since Braet has deep ties to the powerhouse junior college program for which Sosa plays.

A lot is still to be determined and probably will hinge on whether or not a scholarship is extended. Either way, he’s excited about what is in store for him when he arrives in "The Little Apple" this weekend.

“I’m looking forward to meeting with those coaches,” Sowa said. “Developing those relationships is key. I know that it is a great program and that they have unbelievable tradition.”
