Kansas State flips Boston College safety commit Marvin Martin

Kansas State went nearly three months without a commitment. Linebacker Krew Jackson of Arizona had given his word to the Wildcat staff at the end of August. However, they've landed two in two days.

On Tuesday, K-State picked up a pledge from in-state defensive athlete Desmond Purnell of Hayden Catholic in Topeka. They're shoring up the safety position quickly, as former Boston College commit Marvin Martin has flipped to the Wildcats.

It is the first flip of the cycle for Kansas State. It had already been done to them three times, when they lost verbal commitments from Rose Hill offensive lineman Noah Bolticoff (TCU), junior college linebacker DeShawn Page (Texas Tech, Mississippi State) and safety Matthew Langlois (LSU).

That's all in the past and there's a new Wildcat and he's a three-star safety from Cedar Hill. He had played his high school ball in Mississippi before moving to Texas for his senior year.

Martin was committed to the Golden Eagles as recently as two weeks ago, but he backed off his commitment soon after being extended an offer from K-State.

Martin is the 17th member of the class and just the second from Texas (joining wideout Brenen Hawkins).
