K-State adds radio affiliates

Five new radio affiliates have signed on to the 31-station K-State Sports Network for the 2007-08 season, Ben Boyle, general manager of K-State Sports Properties, announced today.

The new stations provide additional coverage in areas of southeast, central, northwest and western Kansas, further improving the exposure of K-State across the Sunflower State.

The addition of KGGF (690 AM) in Coffeyville will solidify the reach of the Wildcats throughout southeast Kansas and into areas of Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas. In Hutchinson, the Wildcats will now be carried on KHMY (93.1 FM), providing strong coverage throughout central and south-central Kansas, including the Wichita metro area.

Also new to the K-State Sports Network are KXXX (790 AM) in Colby, which covers much of western Kansas, KRSL (990 AM) in Russell and KCNK (1390 AM) in Concordia.

"We are excited about the new partnerships we have added to air Wildcat football and basketball," Boyle said. "These additions give us even broader coverage throughout the Midwest, with our daytime reach stretching from Denver to St. Louis and from Des Moines to Oklahoma City. We look forward to working with each affiliate on our network to provide great all-around coverage of K-State athletics."

Wyatt Thompson begins his sixth season as the Voice of the Wildcats, handling play-by-play duties for K-State football and men's basketball. He will again be joined in the booth by former Wildcat quarterback Stan Weber, now in his 21st season as the color analyst. Bruce Haertl, sports director for KWCH-TV in Wichita, will continue to host the network's pregame show and Matt Walters, sports director for KMAN-AM in Manhattan, will provide insight from the Wildcat sideline.

The K-State Sports Network will also carry the Ron Prince Show from 6 to 7 p.m., each Monday throughout the season at Manhattan Town Center beginning August 27.

The Wildcats open the 2007 season at 6:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, on the road against No. 14 Auburn. Pregame coverage of all Wildcat football games begins two hours prior to kickoff.

The K-State Sports Network is operated by K-State Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports, which manages the multimedia rights for more than 35 collegiate institutions and associations throughout the country. Learfield is in its third year as the multimedia rightsholder at K-State.
