All-Big 12 teams and awards were handed out today and Kansas State littered the all-conference teams. Bill Snyder's Wildcats finished the season 7-5 overall and 5-4 in the Big 12. It was a season where they began the season ranked in the Top 25 but it did not finish that way.

That did little to deter voters from acknowledging some of the outstanding performances of the KSU season.

To begin, defensive lineman of the year in the Big 12 was awarded to tackle Poona Ford of Texas, who narrowly won the honor over K-State senior Will Geary, who also received a number of votes. Additionally, D.J. Reed picked up votes for Special Teams Player of the Year but the winner was Longhorns' punter Michael Dickson.

Other awards: Baker Mayfield won Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year while Oklahoma's Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Texas' Malik Jefferson shared honors for Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

WVU quarterback Will Grier won Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year while the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year was TCU defensive end Ben Banogu. Unsurprisingly, Big 12 Coach of the Year for 2017 is Matt Campbell of Iowa State.

Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year was shared by Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer and TCU receiver Jalen Reagor, but KSU signal caller Skylar Thompson did receive votes for the honor as well.

Kansas State had four Big 12 first-team selections. D.J. Reed was named a first-teamer both as a kick and punt returner, and cornerback. That is lofty praise.

Also on the first-team for the Wildcats were kicker Matt McCrane, defensive tackle Will Geary and offensive tackle Dalton Risner.

All-Big 12 second-teamers from Kansas State were fullback Winston Dimel, defensive end Reggie Walker and punter Nick Walsh. Recognized as honorable mentions - Byron Pringle as a kick/punt returner, cornerback Duke Shelley, defensive tackle Trey Dishon, and linebackers Jayd Kirby and Trent Tanking.
