Kansas State announces 26 football signings

Kansas State head football coach Bill Snyder announced Thursday the list of 26 student-athletes who have committed to be part of the program next fall. The list includes 11 community-college transfer students, one transfer from a four-year institution and 14 incoming freshmen.
NCAA rules do not allow the release of four additional commitments who will be mid-term enrollees along with several quality young men who have chosen to walk-on.

Coach Bill Snyder on the 2002 Kansas State Recruiting Class
"As is the case each and every year, the true quality of this class will not be determined for a couple of years when each of these young men will have had the opportunity to mature into and become more familiar with our program.
"Far more than athletic ability enters into the success a young person achieves in a major university athletic program. The development of a strong set of intrinsic values creates the foundation for making a successful transition to this level. This collection of student-athletes would appear to possess collectively such a value system.
"This appears to be a talented group of student-athletes, all of whom seem to be quality young men with a competitive desire to contribute to the continued success of Kansas State football. They also appear, to the man, to have a genuine concern for their own academic successes.
"Our goal has always been to develop and maintain a quality program around class people who will represent Kansas State well as athletes, students and individuals. This class, as have others, seems to possess the values that fall in line with that philosophy."
