Not that it comes as any surprise, since he’s been a fixture on the recruiting trail before and after spring football in Manhattan, but Kansas State assistant Mo Latimore has signed a new one-year contract to continue as assistant coach for the Wildcats.

Latimore’s prior deal was set to expire on May 31, but his new contract, which was obtained through a records request from the university and was actually signed at the end of March, became effective on May 1.

Obviously, this would take him through spring football before the 2019 season, so it is indeed an interesting start and end date.

The 2018 regular season will mark the 35th year on the sideline for the longest-tenured assistant coach in the country, who was once a standout offensive lineman at K-State during the 1970s.

Latimore will still serve as the coach of the interior defensive line in Manhattan at least one more year, and he receives a raise. His previous salary was $267,500 but he will work the next 12 months at a salary of $320,000.

This likely ensures that the entire Kansas State coaching staff for the 2018 season is now in place after uncertainty and change served as key story lines for the coaching staff this off-season.

Not only did Latimore sign a new deal with K-State, but defensive ends coach Jon Fabris did as well. Fabris signed on for at least two more seasons under Bill Snyder in Manhattan a month ago.
