Sproles named to Playboy All-American team
Kansas State senior-to-be and early Heisman Trophy Candidate Darren Sproles has been named to the 2004 Playboy All-America team, the magazine has announced. He is one of three running backs and one of seven Big 12 players to be selected to the 28-member squad.

Sproles, who rushed for a school single-season record and nation-leading 1,986 yards en route to first team All-America honors from both The Associated Press and Sports Illustrated as a junior, was three running backs named to the team.
He becomes the fifth Wildcat in the Bill Snyder Era and the fourth K-Stater in the last five seasons to earn All-America honors from Playboy. Center Nick Leckey, a 2004 sixth-round NFL Draft choice of the Phoenix Cardinals, was a member of last year's team.
Kansas State's career rushing leader with 3,661 yards, Sproles finished fifth in voting for the 2003 Heisman Trophy. He was also the runner-up in voting for the Doak Walker award, annually presented to the nation's top running back, and placed third in voting for AP player of the year.
