K-State WR Target Looking to be Multi-Sport Athlete

Kansas State has already added one receiver to the 2018 class and could be in business to tack on another. The wideout in the class currently is Jaquavius Lane of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson. Assistant Andre Coleman will likely get at least one more.

The Wildcats are listed with nine scholarship receivers as of now and are not set to lose any to graduation. That number is about the norm. They could be content with Lane and move on, but they are proceeding as if they want to enroll another pass-catcher on scholarship.

Meet Khmari Thompson, a receiver from Central Gwinnett High in Lawrenceville, Georgia. K-State tossed a scholarship offer his way not long ago, joining the company of Purdue, Old Dominion, and Tulane.

The relationship between Kansas State and Thompson is in the early stages.

“I don’t know much about Kansas State,” Thompson admitted to K-StateOnline. “But I do plan to learn more. I don’t know much, so I can’t really say what stands out about them. I do like the program as a whole, especially on the track side. I definitely have a football offer but I also believe I have an offer to do track at Kansas State as well. I do want to do both in college.”

The two-sport star may have more research to do on the Wildcats, but he’s forging some connections with the program quickly. His contact with Coleman and friendship with Jaquavius Lane are the main culprits.

“My friend Jaquavius Lane is already committed there,” Thompson pointed out about his blossoming comfort level with K-State. “He’s a wide receiver, too. I like the coaches there and their philosophies.”

“I speak to the coaches weekly, and that is mostly with coach Coleman,” he added. “I believe he is a good coach and knows the game well.”

Despite revealing to K-StateOnline that he knows he will be visiting Manhattan to see a Wildcat game “very soon” (a date actually has not been set yet), Thompson maintains that he does not have a frontrunner in his recruitment.

“I’m new to the recruiting process, so every school looking at me is a blessing,” he shared. “I really like Kansas State, but all schools are equal right now.”
