We polled several players from the different schools at Big 12 Media Day in Kansas City on a variety of topics. We will be trotting out those results in the coming days, beginning with the toughest venue for opponents to play in.

There’s many strong basketball venues in the Big 12. It does all start with iconic Allen Fieldhouse. It doesn’t have that reputation because of how beautiful it is but more so because of the history and tradition that is connected to the building. But let’s not forget that K-State has had some success at KU at the same time.

Kansas State, of course, has Bramlage Coliseum. The atmosphere and craze typically will depend on the kind of product the Wildcats have on the floor. If the Wildcats are competing for championships on a regular basis, it's one of the best environments in the conference - without a doubt. That can be said for many of the conference’s arenas, however.

As a staff, we’re hoping Bramlage is packed this season, becoming the raucous environment we've all enjoyed once again.

While it's not on the list because it's not a true home court - sorry, KU - but we have to credit and praise the Sprint Center in Kansas City. I hope it’s not taken for granted how special the Big 12 Tournament downtown is and the attraction it has become, and the environment it typically produces.

Not all conference tournaments have as much fun or are as lively of an atmosphere. Most don't carry the same weight. I have seen two conference tournaments - the Big Ten and the SEC. Both lacked the buzz and interest that the Big 12 Tournament produces. With Power and Light District serving as a great home base just outside the Sprint Center, it's an ideal setting.

I imagine the ACC Tournament can put up quite the fight in terms of fun, interest and popularity and a sensational fan experience, but give credit where credit is due to the Big 12.

Now, on to the results.

WHERE'S THE TOUGHEST PLACE TO PLAY IN THE BIG 12?

NOTABLE QUOTES

“West Virginia. When they get going, it’s so loud there. That place rocks. It’s real loud. Every time they score, they shoot that gun and it shocks you.” – Texas’ Andrew Jones

“It’s so loud at Kansas. You can’t hear your teammates. You can’t hear your coaches. You can’t hear anything.” – Iowa State’s Solomon Young

“Allen Fieldhouse or WVU. Both get rowdy. Iowa State is tough as well. Those three places would be key wins on the road.” – K-State’s Dean Wade

“No place is tough. KU and WVU are the most fun.” – K-State’s Kamau Stokes

“Iowa State is a very fun place to play. The atmosphere is great. The fan base there is incredible.” – K-State’s Barry Brown

“West Virginia. It’s not because it’s loud but because it’s tough and cool. It’s a fun atmosphere.” – Iowa State’s Donovan Jackson
