In Their Words: Can in-state TE Jackson Heath grab a K-State offer?

Johnson County in Kansas has certainly become more fertile with football prospects over the last five-to-10 years. The Kansas City Metro area, in general, has in as well - to be completely accurate.

The Wildcats have benefited from that with players such as Blaise Gammon, Skylar Thompson, Dalvin Warmack, Kyle Ball, Davis Clark, Tom Killilea and Dalton Schoen.

Can they grab another? Tight end Jackson Heath of the Overland Park area is a possibility. He’s yet to garner an offer, but the senior from Blue Valley Northwest High is among the targets that Kansas State has an eye on.

“I am getting Kansas State interest,” Heath said. “They have repatedly told me that they are interested in me but have a bunch of tight ends on the roster and aren’t sure if they are taking one in this class.”

Heath would likely not accept a grayshirt offer or a preferred walk-on spot from K-State. He’s a valued recruit in the 2018 class. He’s already been extended scholarship offers from the likes of Oregon State, Yale, Harvard, New Mexico, Dartmouth and Ball State.

The Wildcats are a strong program, but legitimate power five offers and Ivy League offers will be hard to defeat without a full-ride offer from Kansas State.

Heath did confirm that there has been zero discussion about a grayshirt opportunity, anyways.

His ties to the K-State program make him intriguing. Heath has strong connections to the university and that alone makes him an option until Signing Day, in my opinion. Bill Snyder and the staff could always pull the trigger late.

“I grew up watching them since my family has a bunch of ties there,” Heath pointed out to KStateOnline. “It’s easy to be a fan, and I definitely have interest there. I also understand that it’s a numbers game with recruiting and that I need to go to a school that wants me as much as I want them.”

He went into more detail about his family’s association with Kansas State University.

“Practically the entire family on my dad’s side went there,” Heath shared. “That is my grandparents, my aunts, my uncle, and my dad.”

Heath did note that he would likely visit the Wildcat campus again this season for one of their games.
