Wichita running back Hall surprised by K-State offer

Wichita will be quite a focus for Kansas State in the 2019 recruiting cycle. The Wildcats have already offered Northwest HS defensive end Marcus Hicks, and Bishop Carroll tight end Clay Cundiff hasn't been offered yet but is a likely top target at the position and is expected to receive an offer from K-State as some point

Now add Breece Hall to the equation. The Northwest HS running back was offered by K-State earlier this week. He’s a speedy back that stands 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds.

Coach Blake Seiler and the ‘Cats were the second program to offer Hall - the first was Iowa State. Other programs that have poked around and shown a strong amount of interest are Notre Dame, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Still, the Kansas State offer caught the junior off-guard.

“It really surprised me when I got it,” he told K-StateOnline. “When Coach Seiler told me they were offering me, I just paused. I didn’t know what to say. I was excited and I was lost for words. I’m happy, though, because it’s close to home so my family would get to watch me if I went there. I really like the program.”

Hall has not visited Kansas State, not even with his teammate Hicks, who was at the Baylor game. But he does have plans to make it to Manhattan in the near future. He will likely be a spectator for one of the bowl practices in the upcoming weeks.

“I should be going to visit them the week of or before the bowl game,” he said.

Will Hall attract offers from the likes of the Fighting Irish, Huskers and Sooners? What about Ohio State, Michigan and Texas? Or even Oklahoma State? We do not know but it isn’t out of the question. Can Kansas State hold off those programs should those name-brand schools decide to offer? It’s something that will be worthy of discussion throughout his recruitment.

For now, he hasn’t even grabbed a Kansas offer. It's just the Cyclones and the Wildcats at the moment, but others will join. But his initial interest level and opinion about K-State sure seems powerful enough to fend off blue-bloods even if they were willing to jump in and get involved.

“They’re close to home,” Hall said of K-State. “I got to meet their coaching staff at a football camp last summer and I think they have a really good group over there. They recruit well. It’s a good team, just like Iowa State, that will be a very good team in the future. They both a pretty young and are well-coached.”

K-State has now offered three in-state prospects – Marcus Hicks, Breece Hall and Jayden Russell. I think they will also offer tight end Clay Cundiff at some point. Other prospects from Kansas that should also be in the mix are athlete Keenan Garber and fullback Jax Dineen of Free State in Lawrence and defensive lineman Javier Derritt of St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park.

It is looking like it will be a strong year in the state of Kansas.
