Kansas State added its sixth commit on America’s birthday in linebacker Yahweh Jeudy of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Cardinal Gibbons High standout picked the Wildcats over Syracuse, Georgia State, Central Michigan and Appalachian State.

While the offer sheet doesn’t stand out necessarily, Jeudy still garnered attention from plenty of strong programs. Not only that, but his highlight tape is definitely one to be excited about. Jeudy has elite speed for a linebacker and is someone that is still growing into his body. It's the technique that needs the most refinement.

It took just one visit to Manhattan to convince Jeudy he wanted to play for Bill Snyder and company.

“The Kansas State family was very welcoming,” he said. “The community, the people and the school is just perfect. The atmosphere was amazing. Everything is balanced. Everything impressed me.”

We have shared throughout the past few months one major change in Kansas State’s recruiting approach was how the Wildcats were identifying and evaluating the linebacker position. The most important attributes now are speed and athleticism. The Wildcats want linebackers that can really, really run, and Jeudy definitely fits the bill.

“Coach (Blake) Seiler is very excited because of my versatility,” Jeudy explained. “That is how he wants to use me. He thinks I can be used in a variety of ways. I could be used anywhere, but more on the outside because of my speed. It’s also possible he’ll have me as one of his main guys to blitz as well.”

One of the current Wildcats played a large role in Jeudy’s decision to play for Seiler.

“I haven’t spoken too much to the other commits, but more so the guys on the team,” he shared. “Like Da’Quan Patton. He’s given positive insight. He played a big part in it. Him and the facilities is what sold me on K-State.”

Jeudy’s next visit to ‘The Little Apple’ could be a ways away. He’ll attempt to visit for a game in the fall whenever possible, but any other visit to Manhattan will be on he and his family’s dime. He’s already taken his official visit to Kansas State, when the university can pick up the tab.

That is something to remember, especially if other schools choose to become involved. Like we have shared before, there’s certainly both advantages and disadvantages to the early official visit period.

Either way, the Wildcats are happy to have Jeudy as part of its 2019 commitment list.
